I first visited here two years ago.It was to look for my mother who had not been heard for more than 10 years. She left Japan when I was 13、and she is over 80 years old. Seattle is the city where she used to live and work.
She has lived in the city of Edmonds, a suburb of Seattle. A quiet and beautiful city near the sea, many of the residents are retired, relatively wealthy seniors. I was prepared for the worst and how relieved I was that she was alive and well.
Unfortunately, the partner she shared half of life died three years ago, so I couldn't see him.

母はシアトル郊外のエドモンズという街で暮らしていました。海の近くの静かな美しい街で、住民の多くはリタイア組の、比較的裕福な高齢者です。最悪の事態をも覚悟していた私は、母が健在で、まずまずの暮らしをしていることがわかって安堵したものです。
残念なことに、彼女が人生の半分を共にしたパートナーは３年前に亡くなっていて、会うことがかないませんでした。
